Life Ceremony

Titled after Sayaka Murata’s short story “Life Ceremony”

wake up from a migraine dream, roll

a mint leaf between the legs

think, respectfully, red meat:

pink tangerine (the thing between your legs)

a hippie store i go into has two open doors and

a photo of two people fucking

revel in oil and flesh

it’s all so indulgent

capitalism can be so tasty

for pitiable new mothers

all we want nowadays: the simplicity of

carcinogens and insulin, a bathtub bubble

burst! think porn!

won’t the water feel good when we go?

sugar extracts liquid and makes a rich syrup

after, you can throw out the original fruit

to leave as sweet slop for the pigs to eat

to get better in bed

prevent pubic hair

be sure to pose sexy

rigor mortis in that way

between your teeth a floss pick

encourage the gentle sway, water and glycerin

endless freedom of beef, pork, especially beef

and its artificial flavors, preventative painkillers

over the caption “make love, not war”

the desert’s blooming:

New Zion capital city!

do we really believe empires fall?

remember: shooting radicals, tapeworm diet pills

they no longer work even if they’re

things manufactured safely for our consumption

lubricant: it can make things wetter!

doesn’t it feel good to be this dirty?

dreamy lift away like starving ourselves?

so vanilla spill, spun sugar on soft hands

stuff the face with human fat or bee pollen

until swollen

suck through straws with minimal movement

to decrease future wrinkling

in case the body decides to

repeat, tic, become breathless trying
