Kohl

When you wear kohl

The fine blue black spreads everywhere

Through the wet of your eyes

To the back of your throat

You spit blue

Your nose drips blue

Today the red in my eyes is obvious

Lines of a cracking interior the pink my gums used to be

The blue black makes my clear brown eyes stand out, the color of an oak tree

I am Cleopatra

Everything is under control

Something inside me is spreading around

I am beautiful

But this time from the brain down

My eyes are deep and full of dimming light

I can feel the cracks in every step I take

I am worth nothing without it and it is gone

I can hear the crunch of my bones

I have never hurt so bad, my shoes have never been this worn

My eyes burn but they shine with the slick oil of a dead animal

I cannot take this any longer

The sun has no heat

My kohl is shiny

I am dying

The blue is no longer in the wet but crusted around my eyes in the powder it used to be

I can feel it
