Waiting

And I’d bathe my house in tides of sunlight

In the downturn of my eye

In candles slowly burnt

The water would not move

Nor the shore long for it anymore

And yet the sun still rises

A continuum of life

Each moment breathed into the next

A circle of air

And ocean foam

And sweet pea

A scent someone I loved once hated

The birds fly home to the warmth

Baked into the soil of the earth

I wait all the while
